If you are visiting on a day that the Pioneer Woman’s Lodge is open for tours, you can add that to your itinerary. It is neat to see where she whips up all of her meals for the television show!
Free tickets for Lodge tours are available at The Mercantile on the day of the tour from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

If the Mercantile has too long of a wait or you are just in the mood for some pizza, eat instead at P-Town Pizza. Their specialties include wood-fired pizzas, chicken wings, fresh salads, and Not Knots.

Take a Drive at the Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve
Stretching across 39,000 acres, the Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve is the largest protected area of tallgrass prairie left on earth. Drive through the preserve to witness the 2,500 bison roaming freely and enjoy the mesmerizing landscape that changes colors with the seasons.
The east side of the preserve features some hiking trails, including the Bottomland Trail (0.5 miles), Study Trail (1 mile), and Prairie Earth Trail (2 miles). The 15-mile Bison Loop on the west side of the preserve provides a great opportunity to see the bison.

Insider Tip: The parking for the playground is a bit hidden. Just keep driving past the signs shown in the photo above, then turn right shortly after.

The Constantine Theater, opening back in 1914, is a beloved landmark in Pawhuska. It’s seen a lot of changes and renovations over the years. Today, the theater is a hub for all sorts of events – from comedy shows and concerts to school and church events, weddings, movies, art shows, and more.
Chase Waterfalls at Blue Stem Falls
Just a quick 10-minute drive from Pawhuska will get you to the beautiful Blue Stem Falls. It is seasonal, so visiting after some rainfall gives you the best chance to see the water flowing. It is even a popular swimming hole in the summer months!

The only negative is that it’s tough to find availability. It books up way in advance, so plan ahead!
