Grand Lake has been a popular destination, especially for water sports and fishing, since it was created in 1940. Being raised nearby, I have had the privilege of exploring every nook and cranny of this stunning lake and its surrounding areas.

From cozy cabins tucked away in the woods to luxurious lakeside resorts, I know exactly where you should stay for an unforgettable experience at Grand Lake.

Best Places to Stay at Grand Lake Oklahoma

Grand Lake offers a wide range of places to stay, scattered all around its beautiful shores. The largest town near the lake is Grove, while Monkey Island on the north side and the Disney area on the south side are both popular destinations.

1. Grand Lake Hotels

If you are looking for a traditional hotel room, the Best Western TimberRidge Inn in Grove has you covered. It is a well-rated hotel with a complimentary breakfast and an outdoor seasonal pool.

To explore the west side of the lake, base yourself in Vinita at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites. It has an indoor pool, a hot breakfast, and free Wi-Fi.

2. Grand Lake Resorts

Resorts around Grand Lake range from a luxury experience with golf courses to a rustic cabin with fewer on-site amenities.

Shangri-La Resort Hotel and Conference Center

Shangri-La Resort Hotel and Conference Center, located on Monkey Island, is a premier resort on Grand Lake. Amenities include a top-notch golf course, spa, resort pool, child splash pad, outdoor patios, restaurants, and an activity center. If you want a luxurious place to stay near Grand Lake, Shangri-La is the place for you.

Lee’s Grand Lake Resort

Lee’s Grand Lake Resort, located on the northeast side of the lake, offers a variety of cabin rentals and RV sites. This resort is especially great for a family vacation.

Amenities at the resort include docks, boat slips, an outdoor swimming pool, a mini-mart, Wi-Fi, a restaurant, a laundry facility, sports areas, and a playground. They also offer free breakfast each morning for cabin guests and rentals for ski boats, pontoon boats, and fishing boats.

Candlewyck Cove Resort

Candlewyck Cove Resort is located on the east side of the lake. It offers a wide variety of accommodations including one-bedroom and two-bedroom cabins, luxury homes, townhouses, suites, and a hotel.

Amenities include boat docks, an outdoor swimming pool, outdoor sport areas, and Wi-Fi. They also offer pontoon, jet ski, and ski boat rentals on-site through H2O Sports Rentals.

Marina Del Rey Resort

Marina Del Rey Resort, located on the west side of the lake, has cabins and RV sites. The cabins are very cute with a large front and back porch. They offer boat slips as well as kayak and paddleboard rentals.

3. Grand Lake Cabins

GrandLake Cabins, located on the west side of the lake, is the perfect place to take a break and relax at this peaceful property. GrandLake Cabins offers one-bedroom and two-bedroom cabins.

Pine Lodge Resort, located on the western side of the lake, is a perfect place for a getaway. The log cabins are nestled in the trees. They are all equipped with a wood-burning fireplace and a private hot tub. There is also an outdoor pool on the property.

Grand Lake RV Resort, located on the west side of the lake, has over 178 sites. Amenities include a boat ramp, bathhouse, laundromat, exercise room, adult and kids’ swimming pool, jacuzzi, playground, outdoor sports, and more.

Monkey Island RV Resort and Cabins offers RV, cabin, and tiny house rentals. Amenities at the resort include an on-site convenience store, playground, outdoor swimming pool, outdoor games, laundromat, Wi-Fi, and more.

Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees RV Resort by Rjourney, located on the northeast side of the lake, has back-in sites, pull-through sites, cabins, and cottages. Amenities include a convenience store, shower house, and laundry room.

Water’s Edge RV & Cabin Resort, located in the southwest area of the lake, offers a variety of RV sites and cabins. Amenities include a swim dock, free wi-fi, showers, restrooms, laundry, boat slip, and more.

You know that it is a fun place when they say this on their resort policies page: “Frowns: Not allowed. If you feel compelled to have one, please leave it at the dumpster and pick it up when you leave.”

Wildwood Cove Lakeside Resort, located at the south of the lake, offers RV sites and cabins. Amenities include an arcade, laundry room, gym, convenience store, playground, and a dock. They also have marine rentals including kayaks, pedal boats, paddle boards, and jet skis.

Grand Lake State Park

Grand Lake State Park encompasses multiple sites around the lake.

There are two Grand Lake State Park locations on the north side of the lake. Grand Lake State Park at Bernice has 34 sites, a nature center, a nature trail, and is close to the water. Grand Lake State Park at Twin Bridges has 63 sites. It is popular for fishing for bass, catfish, and paddlefish.

Grand Lake State Park at Honey Creek is located on the eastern side of the lake. It has 51 sites and an outdoor pool for camping guests.

There are three Grand Lake State Park locations on the south side of the lake. Grand Lake State Park at Cherokee has 24 sites and is popular for fishing and golfing. Grand Lake State Park at Disney has 15 sites and is popular for fishing and swimming. Grand Lake State Park at Spavinaw has 26 sites. It is a popular bass fishing destination.

Things to Do Near Grand Lake

There are two popular attractions in Grove to visit while you are in the area.

Har-Ber Village Museum

Har-Ber Village Museum is a huge collection of America’s past from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s. There is a pioneer-era village with over 100 exhibits. There are shops set up as they would have been. Take a look at the one-room schoolhouse, the bank, the barbershop, and more.

There is also a kid’s area with a cabin and a toy room to keep them entertained. It is open from the second Saturday in March through the first Saturday in November.

Lendonwood Gardens

Lendonwood Gardens, one of the best gardens in Oklahoma, is an eight-acre botanical garden with a wide variety of plants throughout the eight distinct gardens. The azalea garden is beautiful in the spring. And, the Japanese garden is a relaxing oasis.

They also have an Angel of Hope statue, an American backyard garden, a display garden, an English terrace garden, an Oklahoma garden, and an Oriental garden.
