If you’re looking for a fun and exciting getaway this Fall, look no further than Branson, Missouri! There is so much to do in Branson during the Autumn months, from scenic drives and hikes to thrilling amusement parks and festivals.

My family and I have been to Branson many times but loved our fall break trip to Branson the most. There were so many great things to do, the weather was wonderful, and the leaves were beautiful. I’ve put together this list of the 10 best things to do in Branson this Fall!

Best Things to Do in Branson During the Fall

Branson is a popular tourist destination year-round, but it really comes alive in the fall. The leaves change color, the weather is perfect for outdoor activities, and there are plenty of events and festivals to enjoy. Here are ten of the best things to do in Branson during the fall.

1. Be Amazed at Silver Dollar City’s Harvest Festival

If you’re in Branson during October, you have to check out Silver Dollar City’s Harvest Festival! The amusement park is fully decorated with over 15,000 pumpkins on display throughout the park.

Silver Dollar City has numerous roller coasters, rides, and multiple kid-friendly areas to satisfy the little ones in your family. There is also a variety of special shows to watch and enjoy.

The Harvest Festival isn’t all about fun and games, though. There are plenty of opportunities to learn about Missouri’s agricultural heritage. You can watch blacksmiths and other craftsmen at work throughout the festival.

One of the most popular spots at the Harvest Festival is Pumpkin City. This section of the park is filled with pumpkin-themed games, treats, and activities for kids of all ages. You can even shake a leg at an enormous dance party.

The park is even better after dark. The pumpkins throughout the park put on quite a show. Take a walk through Foggy Hollow surrounded by lights and misty fog.

2. Shepherd’s PumpkinFest

Shepherd of the Hills is synonymous with Branson, Missouri. The iconic attraction has been a part of the landscape for over 100 years. Each year it hosts a number of special events. One of the most popular is Shepherd’s PumpkinFest, which celebrates all things autumn.

There are plenty of activities for the whole family including pumpkin decorating, mini golf, a hayride, a petting zoo, and more. There are spots to stop for a photo-op as well as yummy food.

Shepherd of the Hills offers additional attractions outside of the PumpkinFest activities. They have the Copperhead Mountain Coaster, Inspiration Tower, and Sky Trek Ropes Course. These fun-filled activities can be bundled together for a reduced ticket price.

The festival takes place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday starting in September and lasting until the end of October. Save time and money by checking their website for current ticket prices and purchasing in advance. Children under 3 are free.

3. Take a Self-Guided Cart Tour of Top of the Rock

If you’re looking for a unique and beautiful Branson experience, be sure to check out Top of the Rock. This world-class attraction offers stunning views of the Ozark Mountains and Table Rock Lake.

Top of the Rock has a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy. If golfing is your thing, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is sure to amaze you with its’ unique par-3 layout. There are also multiple restaurants to choose from.

The main attraction at Top of the Rock is taking a self-guided cart tour of the property. The tour takes you along the Lost Canyon Cave & Nature Trail. Stop along the way to take photos of one of the many waterfalls throughout the trail and enjoy the stunning views. Fall, when the leaves are changing colors, is the perfect time for the tour.

After your golf cart tour, be sure to check out the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum. The museum has galleries featuring prehistoric creatures, the American West, and the Civil War, as well as an extensive collection of Native American artifacts and artwork.

Tickets to the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum can be purchased separately, but the museum is included with the Lost Canyon Cave and Nature Trail Cart Tour.

4. Explore Dogwood Canyon Nature Park

Branson is home to many beautiful parks, and Dogwood Canyon Nature Park is one of the most stunning. This 10,000-acre park is located just a few miles from Branson and is open year-round. The fall months are especially beautiful as the leaves turn to shades of red and orange.

Stop in at the mill and restaurant before heading outside. The Nature & Conservation Center and Treehouse are a must. The epic treehouse was built by Animal Planet’s Treehouse Masters.

Fishing is a popular activity. Go on a self-guided fishing adventure or book with a guide.

Bring your own bike, rent a bike, or set off on foot to explore the 6.5 miles of paved trails and 9 miles of nature trails. You can also enjoy riding the trails on horseback with multiple lengths to choose from.

Another option to experience the park is to take an organized wildlife tour on a tram, a segway, or from the back of a Jeep.

5. Hop on the Branson Scenic Railway

The Branson Scenic Railway is a historic train that takes passengers on a journey through the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. The train offers multiple departure times throughout the day so you can easily fit it into your schedule. The daytime trips are open seating which allows you to roam around the train to experience the different train cars. Boarding and availability for these trips are based on when the reservation is made, so it is best to book in advance.

The Branson Scenic Railway also has an evening option that serves dinner. Other seasonal rides include the popular Polar Express, which is available in November and December.

6. Spend Some Family Time at Mckenna Family Farm Pumpkin Patch

McKenna Family Farm’s Pumpkin Patch offers plenty of activities to entertain the kids, including a pallet maze, giant bounce pillow, hay rides, gerbil wheels, and more.

They also have a wide variety of pumpkins as well as other fall decorations to purchase for your own home. Satisfy your cravings with fall treats found in the barn or fill up on locally grown produce.

The Pumpkin Patch is open Wednesday through Sunday from late September to the end of October. Tickets can be purchased on-site and children 2 and under are free.

7. Do Some Shopping

Branson is a popular shopping destination because it has lots of variety including some unique and eclectic shops. No matter what you’re looking for, you’ll be able to find it in Branson!

Autumn Daze Arts, Crafts & Music Festival

Autumn Daze takes over Downtown Branson every year during mid-September. This festival has plenty of shopping opportunities from local artisans. Enjoy the live music while you shop and admire the talented vendors.

Branson Landing

For shopping and dining at any time of year, Branson Landing is the place to be. The Branson Landing offers a variety of stores, including Bass Pro Shops, American Eagle Outfitters, Pandora, and more. The Landing also has a movie theater and several restaurants.

Tanger Outlets

Another good place to do some shopping in Branson is the Tanger Outlets. This outlet mall has over 100 stores, including Coach, Michael Kors, Nike Factory Store, and more. You’re sure to find something here that catches your eye.

Branson is a popular destination for those looking for a little adventure. Here are some of the best activities to choose from.

Fritz’s Adventure

Fritz’s Adventure is an indoor adventure park with 19 thrilling attractions. With over 80,000 square feet of family fun, there’s no shortage of excitement here. Fritz’s hosted us for a fun afternoon, and my entire family had a blast!

From ropes courses to awesome slides, Fritz’s Adventure has something for all ages. This is a place for kids and big kids (aka adults) to have fun.

Younger kids will love the Fritz’s Forest area with smaller tree-themed climbing structures. There is also a ropes course just for little ones!

The Sky Trail ropes course is an adrenaline-inducing attraction. There are 3 levels to tackle, each adding a level of difficulty. The zip line was a favorite for my kids!

If you’re looking for a challenge, try to race to the top of the 48-foot city wall climb or the 40-foot tall utility poles. Older kids and adults can fly through the building on the TreeTops Zipline Course. This course has 17 ziplines, 8 suspension bridges, and 2 free falls.

You can choose between 3 pricing packages depending on how many attractions you are interested in. Some attractions have height and weight restrictions. Check their requirements to help you decide which package best fits your family.

I love that this is an indoor attraction that is fun for all ages. You just never know what the weather is going to be in Branson in the fall.

Also, you are allowed to leave the building and come back. You just have to keep your wristband on.

Runaway Mountain Coaster

If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, the Runaway Mountain Coaster in Branson is the perfect attraction. This coaster reaches speeds of up to 30 mph as it twists and turns its way down the mountain.

The ride starts with a scenic 5-minute ride to the top followed by a 2-3 minute thrilling descent. It’s a family-friendly attraction, but be warned – it’s not for the faint of heart!

If you are looking for something even more thrilling, the Zipline lets you soar over Fall Creek. This high-speed Zipline will take you from the top of the launch tower to the landing zone hundreds of feet away. Go solo or have fun racing with friends and family.

Here is some information to know before you go. Guests must be at least 52 inches tall and 9 years old to ride unaccompanied or 36 inches tall and 3 years old to ride with a responsible person 16 years or older.

The coaster is open year-round, but hours may vary depending on the season and weather. Zipline flyers must be at least 4 years old, 48 inches tall, and weigh between 75 and 250 pounds.

Branson Zipline at Wolfe Mountain

The Branson Zipline at Wolfe Mountain offers an exciting way to experience the beauty of the Ozarks. With the leaves changing color and the crisp autumn air, it’s a perfect time for an outdoor zipline adventure.

The Branson Zipline at Wolfe Mountain is an adrenaline-pumping experience that will have you flying through the trees like a bird. There are 8 ziplines in total, the last one being over a quarter mile long, so you can let loose and have some fun.

And if that’s not enough excitement for you, they also have the Snow Flex Park. This 400-foot by 60-foot tubing slope allows the whole family some excitement. This can be enjoyed by guests ages 3 and up.

9. Explore the Outdoors

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy the outdoors in Branson, there are plenty of options to hike and explore. The Ozark Mountains offer beautiful scenery and plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area

The Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area is a beautiful place to enjoy nature on the west side of Branson. You’ll find beautiful scenery and wildlife along the trails.

This 1,534-acre area offers 5.6 miles of hiking trails. The 1.1-mile Glade Trail is a nice trail that takes you to an overlook deck to enjoy the surrounding fall colors.

Another trail through the area is the 3.4-mile Homesteaders Trail. This loop trail takes you past some old homestead sites from the 1800s.

Lakeside Wilderness Hiking Trail

The Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area is a perfect place to spend a few hours outdoors. This 140-acre area features 5.3-miles of hiking trails, views of Lake Taneycomo, and a nature playground.

Hiking trail options include a 0.2-mile walking path, 0.5-mile Bluff Trail, 0.4-mile Owen Drive Trail, 2.4-mile Ridge Trail, 0.34-mile Stone Wall Trail, and 1.06-mile Taneycomo Trail.

Dewey Short Visitor Center 

The Dewey Short Visitor Center is a great place to learn about the history and ecology of the Branson area. This center offers exhibits and interactive displays that will teach you all about the area and Table Rock Lake.

Once you finish exploring the center, take the 2.2-mile paved lakeshore trail to Table Rock State Park.

Table Rock State Park

Table Rock State Park is a popular place for recreational activities including hiking, fishing, and mountain biking. There are 3 trail options in the park.

The Table Rock Lakeshore Trail discussed earlier runs between the Dewey Short Visitor Center and the Table Rock State Park Marina. Another trail option is the 1.2-mile Chinquapin Trail.

For a lengthy trail, the White River Valley Trail might be a good fit. This 11.3-mile trail is used by hikers and mountain bikers.

10. Enjoy Dinner and a Show

Branson has some top-notch dinner shows. These shows offer the best of both worlds, combining delicious food with world-class entertainment.

Dolly Parton’s Stampede Dinner Attraction

Dolly Parton’s Stampede is an incredible dinner show that features world-class horsemanship, musical productions, and comedic banter. The cast of 32 horses and riders is amazing, and the food is just as good as the show itself.

With a four-course meal that includes roasted chicken, pork loin, and delicious desserts, everyone will be satisfied. They also have a vegetarian option available.

This popular Branson attraction often sells out, so it’s best to book in advance!

Extra tip: Even if you aren’t going to the show, you can see the horses along the outside of the building.

Showboat Branson Belle

The Showboat Branson Belle is a showboat-style dinner cruise on Table Rock Lake. You’ll enjoy a delicious meal while you enjoy the beautiful scenery and the talented performers. The Belle offers seasonal live shows throughout the year.

There are two dining options to choose from. The general seating meal comes with a salad, roll, chicken thighs, beans, potatoes, and dessert. Kids get chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, beans, apple sauce, and dessert.

Upgrading to the Captain’s Club allows you to choose from a ribeye, chicken breast, pork chop, or trout for your entree. You also get a choice from a list of desserts with this upgraded dining option.

Be sure to book your tickets in advance, as this popular attraction often sells out.
